Check Out the Hotties of 'Overcompensating'

Frank J. Avella READ TIME: 23 MIN.

If you ate up Season 3 of "The White Lotus" but, it just wasn't spicy enough for your taste, and the sizzling scenes between Matt Bomer and Zane Phillips in "Mid Century Modern" felt like foreplay, there is a new show streaming mid-May that you must tune in to.

Prime Video will premiere all eight episodes of the new queer series "Overcompensating," on May 15. The college campus-set comedy centers on one young freshman, Benny (Benito Skinner), who becomes besties with fellow outsider Carmen (Wally Baram).

Both bond in wonderfully unusual ways on their respective journeys of self-discovery. The show features Connie Britton and Kyle MacLachlan as Benny's parents and Mary Beth Barone, hilarious, as Benny's perpetually annoyed sister, Grace. Charlie XCX appears as herself!

"Overcompensating" begins rather predictably, but then enchants viewers with surprising twists and character arcs. The series also has a lot to say about the desire to fit in vs. realizing one's true self. Oh, and there's lots of nudity and hot gay (and straight) sexual situations. It's a real treat.

Here are the key hotties to look out for in this exciting new series.

Benito Skinner

"Overcompensating" is created, written, and executive produced by the truly gifted Benito Skinner. So, maybe he's overcompensating? Not quite. Skinner has an ingenious way of sucking you into the series and then taking you on quite the gay coming-of-age journey. He plays Benny, a closeted former football player and homecoming king who loves being adored and doesn't want to risk his popularity by admitting his attraction to dudes. That is, until he falls for one.

The yummy out actor/comic/writer got his start creating hugely popular comedy videos on Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube, where he did celebrity impressions. He appeared in four episodes of the reboot of "Queer as Folk" in 2022.

Skinner shows quite a bit of skin in "Overcompensating," especially his butt skin.

And speaking of naked butts, most gay guys will remember handsome Adam DiMarco's prominent nude scenes in "The White Lotus," Season Two, set in Taormina, Sicily, where he played the son of Michael Imperioli and grandson of F. Murray Abraham.

In "Overcompensating," he plays Grace's super-hunky and uber-arrogant boyfriend, Peter, head of an exclusive fraternal order. Once again, DiMarco has no problem dropping trou. As a matter of fact, I think he displays more skin than Skinner!

DiMarco has had a few minor roles in films like "Words and Pictures" and "Star Trek Beyond." His TV credits include "The Magicians," "The Order," and "Pillow Talk."

And speaking of "The White Lotus" and naked butts, who can ever forget the rimming scene between Lukas Gage and Murray Bartlett in Season One? It's sorta etched into the gay subconscious.

Gage has a significant role in "Overcompensating," in a late episode that is truly worth the wait – and that I will say nothing else about.

The ubiquitous out actor also loves to show skin, as he has on HBO's "Euphoria," as well as on the "Midnight Kiss" episode of Hulu's "Into the Dark" anthology series.

The last decade has been a busy one for Gage. His other TV credits include "Love, Victor," "Queer as Folk," "You," "The Other Two," "Fargo," and "Dead Boy Detectives." He's also appeared in major movies such as "Assassination Nation," "How to Blow Up a Pipeline," "Road House," "Smile 2," and this year's terrific thriller, "Companion."

Rish Shah plays Miles, a campus hottie that Benny crushes on. But does dreamy-eyed Miles return Benny's lustful feelings?

Brit-born Shah made his TV debut in 2019 on BBC One in Russell T. Davies' underrated gem "Years and Years," as well as the medical show "Doctors." Onstage, he appeared in "Torch Song Trilogy" in London. In 2020, he co-starred in Riz Ahmed's Oscar-winning short, "The Long Goodbye."

His TV credits include "Emmerdale," "Obsession," and "Ms. Marvel," where he has a sultry shirtless moment coming out of a pool.

Sexy Owen Thiele plays the out, loud, and proud George in "Overcompensating," a character who sees exactly who Benny is before Benny sees it!

The openly gay actor appeared in a couple of Taylor Swift music videos and was then cast in the TV series "Dollface." He also guested in an episode of "Hacks." He's best known for his role as Gigi Chabonier in Molly Gordon & Nick Lieberman's indie comedy hit, "Theater Camp."

"I'm Amanda Knox's cousin... she was innocent. It was a fucking witch hunt," is how Charlie Henry Larsen's oddball, but super-fun, character, Dean, introduces himself. Larsen only appears in three episodes of "Overcompensating," but he proves to be a comic find. And he's cute as hell!

Larson has previously appeared on TV in "Brilliant Minds," "See No Evil," and "Dark Side of the '90s."

Tomasso Sanelli

Smoldering hot Tomasso Sanelli plays Trent, the not-so-bright frat dude who is tutored by Carmen, sort of.

Sanelli's major TV credits include "Shadowhunters," "Star Falls," "Titans" (as Young Dick Grayson), "Lockdown," and "Holly Hobbie." He was also in Eli Roth's horror film, "Thanksgiving."

Austin Lindsay provides more eye-candy as Benny's roommate, Trey, who enjoys walking around full-frontally naked.

Lindsay is a singer, dancer, and filmmaker who has directed a few shorts. This is his first major TV role.
