'It's Giving Sean Cody!' New Orleans Saint Quarterback Jake Haener Trolled for 'Sassy' Rookie Photoshoot

New Orleans Saint second year quarterback Jake Haener had a bad Sunday. He started the game as quarterback after lead quarterback Derek Carr was benched due to an injury but he performed so poorly that he was sacked at half-time and replaced by Spencer Rattler in what turned out to be a 1-point loss against the Washington Commanders.

"Despite connecting on a promising play that was negated by a penalty, Haener was replaced by Spencer Rattler, who sparked the offense in a narrow 20-19 loss," writes BVM Sports. "Haener expressed disappointment but praised Rattler's performance, accepting responsibility for his own struggles, which included a completion rate of just 40% and one interception. With Derek Carr's injury status unresolved, Haener's future as a starter remains uncertain as the team evaluates its quarterback situation."

Prior to the game, though, CBS Sports posted a TikTok that no doubt aggravated Haener by drawing attention to a photo shoot he did for the he National Footbal League Players Association (NFLPA) when he was a rookie. During the shoot, the photographer told Haener to "have fun with it." "In the photos, Haener looks - for the lack of a better word - sassy," writes Matthew Paras on NOLA.com. While prior to the game ESPN commentator Nicole Briscoe "poked fun at Haener's model-like poses and facial expressions," writes the Daily Mail.

"It's giving slay," she said after quickly introducing the quarterback. "It's serving something, I don't know if it's gonna serve a win but it's serving something."

For his part, "Haener did not, and still does not, find them amusing," adds NOLA. "That is just such the opposite representation of who I actually am," Haener said. "And I hate it so much. I can't stand it. I would think I was a clown if I saw that, too."
