'Chucky' Series, Known for its Queer Spin, Canceled after 3 Seasons

The "Chucky" TV series, based on the film series "Child's Play" about the murderous evil doll, has been canceled after three seasons by Syfy and USA Network, Variety reports.
"According to sources, there had been discussions of bringing the show back for an abbreviated final season or even a wrap up film, but ultimately to no avail," the outlet writes.
"I'm heartbroken over the news that 'Chucky' won't be coming back for a fourth season, but am so grateful for the killer three years we did have," series creator Don Mancini said in a statement. "I'd like to thank UCP/SYFY/Peacock/Eat the Cat, our awesome cast and Toronto-based crew (the best in the business), and finally, to our amazing fans, a big bloody hug. Your incredible #RenewChucky campaign really warmed Chucky's cold heart. Chucky will return! He ALWAYS come back."
Season 3 was split in two parts with the second half airing in the spring.
"Chucky" became known for its queer spin on the franchise, as it featured queer characters, including a gay main character. Additionally, John Waters joined the cast in Season 3 as the creator of the Chucky "Good Guy" doll, Wendell Wilkins
The series featured the same Chucky voice actor as the film series, with Brad Dourif. The rest of the TV show's cast included Zackary Arthur, Björgvin Arnarson, Alyvia Alyn Lind, Jennifer Tilly, Alex Vincent, Christine Elise, Devon Sawa, Lachlan Watson, and Fiona Dourif.
