Joaquin Phoenix Reportedly Storms Off Set of Todd Haynes' Gay Romance Movie

Trouble has reportedly hit the set of of Todd Haynes' upcoming gay romance movie starring Joaquin Phoenix and "Top Gun: Maverick's" Danny Ramirez

As reported by Deadline, the movie is reportedly dead in the water after Phoenix stormed off set. At present, the film is not moving forward.

The project has been in limbo, and producers are scrambling to pick up the pieces. There are no plans to recast Phoenix, and the crew is stuck on set in Guadalajara, Mexico.

According to a rough outline of the film's synopsis, the movie follows two men who experience an intense relationship that causes them to leave California for Mexico.

"No further details on what sparked Phoenix's retreat," reports Deadline. "He has a reputation for being a deeply-committed actor." And there are reports that the film includes a fair share of edgy scenes.

The news comes as Phoenix is about to embark on what is sure to be a big press tour for "Joker: Folie à Deux" with Lady Gaga. And the film will have its premiere in Venice, with a wide release in the fall.

"The Joker," also starring Phoenix has become the highest grossing R-rated movie of all time at $1.1 billion.
