Whitney's Daughter Apologizes For Transphobic Tweet

Bobbi Kristina Brown, daughter of the late Whitney Houston, is apologizing for a series of tweets fired at Angela Bassett, one of which included a transphobic comment about the Golden Globe Award-winning actress. SF Blog reports.

Basset is due to make her directorial debut for a Lifetime biopic on Whitney Houston.

As if to say, "what's blood got to do with it," Bassett dismissed the idea of casting Houston's aspiring actress daughter as the the deceased diva.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Bassett, who co-starred with Houston in the 1995 drama "Waiting to Exhale." said "I did not think about casting her [Brown]. And probably for a number of reasons, you know. One being that she's not an actress," she continued. "I know she's acted here and there. I know she's been on their family's reality show, but she's not an actress and acting is a craft."

Hell hath no fury like a dead diva's daughter dissed, which drove Brown to Twitter to unleash a torrent of angry tweets aimed at the Bassett.

"Ha MsAng 'bassketcase' has such a damn nerve my lord,"

"When I win my first Grammy or Oscar, *Shrugs* hmm whichever comes 1st, I'll be sure 2shout URname (your name) out b-! Hah (sic)..."

In one tweet, she made a disparaging remark about Bassett's gender.

"Ha MsAng 'bassketcase' (sic) has such a damn nerve my lord, at least the world doesn't mistake me for the wrong sex...

As it to say "it's not right, but it's OK," after receiving backlash from her Twitter followers, Brown returned to social media to recant.

"I'm a young woman who can admit her wrongs. 4who (sic) was offended I apologize BUT understand me before your (sic) quick to judge though."

The role of Houston will be played by America's Top Model cycle three runner-up, Yaya DeCosta.
