Jesse Jackson Weighs in on 'Duck Dynasty' Controversy

Reverend Jesse Jackson is speaking out about "Duck Dynasty" star Phil Robertson who made headlines this month when he made anti-gay and offensive comments in a recent interview with GQ magazine.

In the interview, Robertson linked homosexuality to bestiality, said Nazis needed Jesus and that he never saw African Americans mistreated while growing up on Louisiana before the civil rights era.

Although the reality star "apologized," but then later defended his remarks, A&E suspend him from "Duck Dynasty," soon after GLAAD released a statement condemning Robertson. Nevertheless, Jackson is still calling him out.

"These statements uttered by Robertson are more offensive than the bus driver in Montgomery, Alabama, more than 59 years ago," Jackson said in a statement obtained by ABC News. "At least the bus driver, who ordered Rosa Parks to surrender her seat to a white person, was following state law. Robertson's statements were uttered freely and openly without cover of the law, within a context of what he seemed to believe was 'white privilege.'"

According to ABC News, the statement was released on Dec. 23 and also urges A&E officials to meet with him. Jackson also requests a meeting with Cracker Barrel executives after the restaurant chain removed, and then put back, "Duck Dynasty" memorabilia on its shelves.

When Robertson defended himself this week, he said his GQ comments came from the Bible and that he "will not give or back off from my path."
