Bette Midler Confirms 'Hocus Pocus 2' with Original Cast
Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy, and Sarah Jessica Parker — the Sanderson sisters in the 1993 cult classic "Hocus Pocus" — will reunite for a sequel, ET Canada reports.
In an interview with FOX 5 New York's "Good Day New York," Midler said "they want to make a movie, they've asked us if we were interested and of course all of us said yes. I'm game, I'm totally game." Because the original film has become a staple of Halloween, speculation arose over the last few years about a potential sequel. "Hocus Pocus 2" will be directed by Adam Shankman ("Hairspray" and "Step Up").
The trio will reunite beforehand, this coming Friday October 30, for a live, one-night-only virtual event, "In Search of the Sanderson Sisters." Hosted by Elvira, Mistress of the Dark, the event will also feature Jamie Lee Curtis, Todrick Hall, Adam Lambert, Sarah Silverman and more.
Also highly anticipated is Glenn Close, who delighted fans with a social media re-creation of her Cruella de Vil earlier this month in advance of the event.
On reuniting with Najimy and Parker, Midler said "it was so bizarre because we fell into exactly the same relationship we had and the same style of behaving on screen that we had 27 years ago. As if we had been off for a weekend!"
