NBC has bought a comedy about a gay father and son called "Like Son, Like Father" from writers Nick Lehmann and Matt Hubbard. The show is now in development, Deadline reports.

Written by Lehmann, "Like Son, Like Father" follows Nick, who is out and proud but finds himself mentoring his father, who just came out as gay, and being his new roommate.

Both Lehmann and Hubbard will executive produce with Universal TV serving as the studio.

Lehmann, who created the web series "I'm Not Crazy," has become a popular figure on social media. Deadline writes that in four months he's "acquired over 90k followers across his social platforms from his comedic videos and tweets, totaling over 100k followers and millions of views."

Hubbard as worked with NBC for years, working on "Ed" and the "Friends" spinoff "Joey." He also worked on "30 Rock" as well as "Superstore" and "Parks & Recreation." Both Hubbard and Lehmann worked on the short-lived Amazon comedy "Forever."

Lehmann took to Twitter to react to the news.
