Elon Musk's transgender daughter filed for a name change to reflect her gender identity and said, "I no longer live with or wish to be related to my biological father in any way, shape or form," NBC News reported.

"The petition for both a name change and a new birth certificate reflecting her new gender identity was filed with the Los Angeles County Superior Court in Santa Monica in April," the report noted. "It came to light recently in some online media reports."

Musk's daughter "recently turned 18, the age of consent in California," NBC News recounted, and she "has asked the court to change her gender recognition from male to female and to register her new name, according to court documents available online through PlainSite.org."

Musk's daughter has "not commented on whether [she] receive[s] financial support from [her] dad," The Daily Mail said, "whose $213 billion dollar fortune makes him the world's richest man."

"Musk has been vocal on various transgender issues and last year he complained about people using their own pronouns," the Mail article added. "He also said he was a fan of Florida governor Ron DeSantis who has been condemned by the LGBTQ community for his bill preventing discussion of gender identity and homosexuality in classrooms for children in kindergarten through third grade."

Sky News recalled that Musk is currently "attempting a $44 billion (£35.8 bn) takeover of social media platform Twitter," a move that the Mail noted has aggravated employees of that social media platform.

In a meeting to discuss Musk's bid to acquire the company, one Twitter employee demanded, "What should we tell the LGTBQ community at recruiting conferences we're lined up to attend when they ask us why they should come work at Twitter when we just sold ourselves to an open homophobe and transphobe?" the Mail reported.

Despite a history of social media posts that have been viewed as anti-LGBTQ+, Musk has "insisted he is totally pro-LGBT rights, and cites Tesla's constant top marks in lists of the best places for LGBT people to work as evidence of his open-mindedness," the Mail said.

Musk also has children with pop singer Grimes, the Mail noted, detailing that "in May 2020 she gave birth to their son, X Æ A-XII, known as X." The report added: "In December 2021 Musk and Grimes welcomed a daughter born via surrogate, Exa Dark Sideræl Musk, known as Y."
