U.S. Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg and husband Chasten announced they are parents of twins on social media Saturday, Business Insider reports.

"Chasten and I are beyond thankful for all the kind wishes since first sharing the news that we're becoming parents," Pete said in a caption of an Instagram post Saturday. "We are delighted to welcome Penelope Rose and Joseph August Buttigieg to our family."

The black-and-white pic shows the couple gazing at each other each holding one of the children, one a boy named Joseph August, and one a girl named Penelope Rose.

Buttigieg also posted the news on Twitter, writing: "Chasten and I are beyond thankful for all the kind wishes since first sharing the news that we're becoming parents. We are delighted to welcome Penelope Rose and Joseph August Buttigieg to our family."

The couple first announced last month that they would become parents, USA Today reported.

"For some time, Chasten and I have wanted to grow our family," Buttigieg tweeted at the time. "We're overjoyed to share that we've become parents! The process isn't done yet and we're thankful for the love, support, and respect for our privacy that has been offered to us. We can't wait to share more soon."
Chasten Buttigieg quote-tweeted the post with a quick Twitter aphorism, "Some news!" He recently told The Washington Post they had started the adoption process and had gotten close to bringing a child into their home.

They immediately received many congratulations in Twitter, including some celebrities, starting with First Lady Jill Biden:
