Aiden Leslie :: Diamond Dreams...A Pop-Star’s Best Friend
Pop sensation Aiden Leslie is proving once again that dreams really do come true. The dance music heartthrob shines in a myriad of dimensions on his latest single, and is premiering the track this week at an exclusive appearance in Lady Bunny's KiKi Lounge at the XL in New York City on Friday night.
When Leslie debut the very high energy new single "Diamond Dreams" during Washington DC's Pride, the reception was beyond the singer's expectation. "Being in the nation's capital was very special - the energy was magical." Leslie cited the landmark year that we've experienced as a community with several states passing marriage equality and President Obama's dismantling of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell". "It was electric," the singer expressed about the atmosphere in our nation's capital, the bonus, of course, feeling deeply gratified at how well his fans responded to the new song.
"'Diamond Dreams' is definitely Top 40, pop-rock," reminiscent of hits from the 80's the artist insists, "but I wanted to stay within the vein of the music that I've been releasing. This has a little more of an edge." The track is the third most recent release from Leslie who has been experiencing something of a music renaissance, taking more control of his music and image, after a very different experience at the beginning of his career in pop.
Shiny and New
He had taken some time off from recording and performing, and decidedly returned to the scene in 2011 with the dancehall friendly smooth groove of "World’s Away." With a fresh and contemporary new sound, Leslie is confident that he’s on the right path right now, especially creatively. "I continually step out of my comfort zone - moving into unfamiliar places so I can discover new things." Those luxuries, no doubt, are afforded to an independent artist. "That’s how you learn to grow."
Since reinventing himself Aiden Leslie has shared the stage with hit makers Pepper Meshay, Crystal Waters and Deborah Cox, one of his favorite vocalists. "All these years that I’ve been so influenced by her music, and now I’m sharing a trailer with Deborah Cox - it was a really great feeling." Aiden Leslie is no longer worlds away and is making his dreams come true...and they radiate like diamonds.
Aiden Leslie performs his new single "Diamond Dreams" in the XL Lounge Friday, Aug 17. "Diamond Dreams" is also available now for digital download. Open bar serving 42 Below is open from 10-11.
