Obama Hosts Annual LGBT Pride Month Celebration

WASHINGTON -- President Barack Obama is thanking friends and colleagues who he says have supported and guided his administration on same-sex issues and equality policies.

Obama recognized influential figures in his life, including an old college professor, who he says have helped shape how he thinks about many of these issues, as he marked Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Pride Month at a White House reception Monday.

The president thanked the "Crustmaster," or White House pastry chef Bill Yosses, who was joined by his husband. Obama said his pies are so addictive that he didn't know what Yosses does, "whether he puts crack in them" or something - as the crowd laughed.

Despite tremendous progress in society, Obama said work remains, such as passing the Employment Non-Discrimination Act.

Thanks to President Obama. It is clear that he is the most supportive president that all families have ever had. He is also a strong ally for the LGBT community. However, we must not take this support for granted. Unless our community continues to press for and support progressive change, those who wish to take our rights away will be the only people heard and the ones who will get their way.
