While many lauded Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' performance of their marriage equality jam "Same Love" during the 2014 Grammy Awards Sunday night, which featured vocals from Madonna and Queen Latifah who officiated 33 couples, a number of them gay, a number of anti-gay pundits took to social media to slam the event.

As the Huffington Post reports, a number of pundits who are not shy about making anti-gay remarks, didn't hesitate to post their thoughts on the Grammy Awards, specifically the performance of "Same Love," which was nominated for Song of the Year but lost to Lorde's "Royals."

"Heads up: Grammy telecast to feature sodomy-based wedding ceremonies," the American Family Association's Bryan Fischer tweeted Sunday afternoon, a few hours before the Grammy Awards aired.

"I've never seen such a display of intolerance, bigotry and hatred. #Grammys #antichristian," Fox News' Todd Starnes wrote on Twitter during the show.

HuffPo aggregated a number of tweets of others slamming the "Same Love" performance.

"CBS: Shame on you, the Grammy's is supposed to be a family friendly show. It was disgusting, and sick to have gay marriages," one Twitter user wrote.

"Total mockery of God on the Grammys tonight! The world has gone gay-mad! And it is sickening!" another wrote.

"These Grammy's turned out to be a damn fag/queer marriage festival. #gross," another tweet reads.

"Grammy's are pathetic.. I boycott from now on. A gay marriage on tv is disgusting and uncalled for," a user wrote.

You can read more of the tweets over at HuffPo.

Jezebel also points out some viewers' disgust with the Grammy Awards, posting a number of anti-gay tweets as well.

"This gay shit on the Grammys is fucking disgusting. I'm done watching this," a tweet reads.

"There's some disgusting ppl in this world. Reading hate tweets about that just happened on the #grammys. What the hell is wrong with people?" a Twitter user wrote.

But viewers also took issue with Beyonce's sexy performance of "Drunk in Love" and Lorde.

"Beyonce's act was literally disgusting. The Grammy's are supposed to be classy," a tweet reads.

"Ok so Lorde was disgusting. Looked like a vampire on crack and I love Katy Perry but that performance was horrible!! #grammys."

CBS Sports reports that former Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron called the Grammy Awards "demonic" in a tweet.

"Is it just me or are some of the Grammy performances so far seem to be really demonic?? Looks like there is a lot of evil in the world..." he said.

wow people are so ignorant.... I say let gays marry it is a free country, this county is not ruled my religion, so leave them be.... everyone talks about ani-bullying but look in the mirror you are the bully, what u don’t understand well u probably do and just don’t care is that everything you wright on twitter takes a toll on someone, young or old, and it can just be the last straw for him/her to decide on whether or not to take their own lives... just think about that every hateful thing u post cant be the rope around their neck getting tighter and tighter..... and their blood is on your hands.....

Most of those clowns can be dismissed as un-American anyway (ever heard of "equal protection under the law", "all men are created equal", and "justice for all"?). The rest either adhere to selective, ancient religious superstitions or are closet Nazis. Either way, their days are numbered. When you look at the demographics, it’s obvious that most will soon be in the cemetery--and forgotten.

OK, let me see if I can express this without sounding like I’m on anyone on side or trying to offend anyone one... I’m a gay male. I’m in a relationship with a man I plan on marrying one day. I don’t want special rights, equal rights, Gary rights. I just want to be, to marry who I want. I feel he most "excepted" when I hold hands with my man or lean over and kiss him and no one notice. Let me explain why. Going in unnoticed truly means that we as a couple are as common place in people live as a straight couple. We aren’t special in any way. I don’t want supporters going "see that’s what I’m talking about you two can kids in public and nobody cares." I don’t have anti gay people going "fag get the hell out of my city", or what ever they say. I enjoy the support and say thank you to everyone that’s worked so hard to make being Gay a main stream subject but again I don’t want special rights out equal rights, I just want to be a couple that wants to get married and hold hands in public without gauquers from either side. But again thank you for those that have helped and those that have fought, no let’s focus on being. I will say one thing, it is nice to see myself reflected in media. That’s my two cents, I have a whole pocket of change I could share but this is a blog site not a what does Jones H.T. Cunningham have to say about it site.

"Open your heart to me. I’ll be the lock, and you’ll be the key".... Let’s not forget Madonna, who was in pain and on crutches, foregoing the fancy gown she wore in rehearsal, reminding us of her 30+ years of support.

Why do you and progressive media even cover what the bigots say ?? It gives them a soap box to stand on You enable fuel to the fire. Simply ignore them !! Haters gotta hate. It’s in their blood

Such great examples of why I am spiritual person and not a religious one. So many religions forgot that the highest power is love; same, different, or otherwise. They also seem to forget that God doesn’t put on the Grammy’s a major corporation that wants to stay in business does. If they have a problem with it then don’t watch it or save us all some trouble and move to Russia, Nigeria, etc. Oh but wait, that would mean taking action for what you believe in instead of talking.
