"Bad Actress" is an absolutely addictive blend of "Serial Mom" and "Psycho Beach Party." This irreverent comedy has all the makings of a cult classic. Beth Brodderick shines as an actress who will stop at nothing to guarantee the success of her career and her family.
Alyssa Rampart-Pillage (Broderick) is the former star of HMO Nurse, a devoted mother and the face of her husband's appliance empire. When her daughter dies under mysterious causes, her husband turns to religion. She then has no better recourse but to murder him. That's when the fun starts. The film becomes a procedural crime comedy as family ties are tested and scandalous alliances are formed.
The film is the best blend of soap operatic intrigue, campy dialogue and outrageous scenarios. There is also an amazing cast. Broderick is hilarious and totally underrated as an actress. The film also features Ryan Hansen ("Party Down"), Vincent Ventresca ("Romy & Michelle's High School Reunion") and Keri Lynn Pratt.
The film is hilarious with amazing dialogue and a really smart script. The plot is a smart reboot of classic Greek tragedy and insanely entertaining. It's definitely worth owning because many of the moments will have you laughing out loud.
This is a must-see film for all camp fans. The DVD has no special features except for the trailer of the film but definitely worth adding to your collection.
