Nicole Kidman 4-Film Collection

"Nicole Kidman 4-Film Collection" is a great set for fans of the Academy-Award-winning actress. While the inclusion of "Dead Calm," "To Die For" or "Moulin Rouge!" would have been welcomed by viewer, the selections here are still pretty good, especially for the price.

"Cold Mountain," 2003's Civil War-era romantic drama, also starring Jude Law and Renee Zellweger, earned seven Academy Awards nominations, including a win for supporting actress Zellweger. Kidman plays a woman who must survive as she waits for the man she loves - an AWOL Confederate soldier (Law) trying to make it back home. This DVD features a widescreen presentation plus English and Spanish subtitles.

The second film is 2010's "Rabbit Hole." Here Kidman shares the screen with Aaron Eckhart and Dianne Wiest. Kidman earned a nomination for this film about loss and recapturing love after loss. This film is based on the play by David Lindsay-Abaire and it was directed by John Cameron Mitchell, the director of "Hedwig And The Angry Inch" and "Shortbus." This DVD features a widescreen presentation, English and Spanish subtitles, a commentary track by the director, the writer, and the director of photography, and deleted scenes.

"The Others," the suspense thriller directed by Alejandro Amenabar will have you on the edge of your seat, as surprises lurk at every turn. A mother and her two children discover chilling secrets hidden within their secluded mansion. Kidman is calculating and cool in this film. "My children sometimes have strange ideas, but you mustn't pay any attention to them" is Nicole's best line in this 2001 ghost story. The children, played by Alakina Mann and James Bentley, also give excellent performances. This DVD features a widescreen presentation and English and Spanish subtitles.

In Lars von Trier's 2003 film "Dogville" Grace (Kidman), a woman with a dangerous past, arrives in an isolated town on the run from gangsters. The townspeople agree to hide her. However, when outsiders start looking for the fugitive, things get too risky for the locals. This DVD includes deleted scenes, commentary track by von Trier and the film's cinematographer, and English and Spanish subtitles.

This is a solid collection, and for the price, it's a good way to catch up if you haven't seen most of Kidman's films. Nicole Kidman is versatile and this collection showcases her wide range as an actress.
